Nawaz sanguine about national unity on defence
Senator Siddiqui briefed Sharif on performance of PML-N parliamentary party in Senate
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) President and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif Friday said it is encouraging that all political parties in Parliament are united on matters concerning national defence and security.
Nawaz Sharif said this role of parliamentarians will promote national cohesion and create an atmosphere of unity and solidarity among the people.
He expressed these views during a meeting with Senator Irfan Siddiqui, head of the PMLN parliamentary party in the Senate and Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, on Friday at Raiwind.
Senator Siddiqui briefed Sharif on the performance of the PMLN parliamentary party in the Senate.
He also mentioned the resolution expressing unity towards national defence, which was prepared with mutual consultation and passed unanimously in the upper house. Sharif said that while dissent is the beauty of democracy, setting aside all differences for the great cause of national defence is commendable.
