Protection of workers’ rights being ensured, says federal minister
LAHORE:The Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, has taken several revolutionary measures for the welfare of the working class. Maryam Nawaz Ration Card Programme is being launched through which 12 million workers and their 84 million family members will benefit.
Provincial Minister for Labour, Manpower, Youth Affairs and Sports Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar shared this information while addressing the Workers Convention which was organised on the eve of Labour Day on Thursday.
Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Syed Imran Ahmed Shah, MNA Shamaiyla Rana, Chairman LWMC Malik Bilal, President Labour Wing PMLN Syed Mushtaq Hussain, Secretary General Ch Sajjad Ahmed, labour wing officials and labour leaders from across the Punjab province participated in the Workers Convention.
Federal Minister Syed Imran Ahmed Shah on this occasion said that the PMLN is a worker-friendly party and it is our top priority is to see the working class prosperous. He praised Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz's measures taken for the welfare of working class. “The protection of the rights of workers is being ensured perfectly in Punjab”.
He prayed for the end of atrocities on Muslims in Palestine and Kashmir. “India must know that we are a nation like well-knit unit and we stand firmly with our forces.” Addressing the Workers Convention, Malik Faisal Khokhar said that today is the day to salute the greatness of the labour class. “CM Maryam Nawaz believes in taking effective measures for the welfare of the workers. The Punjab government has taken the task of improving the life of the labourers”.
He said that Online Complaint Cell, 1314 Helpline, Online Kachehri, and Ease of Doing Business Portal have been launched and 57,112 welfare grant cases which were delayed for five years have been approved. “New social security hospitals are being set up in Rahim Yar Khan, Sargodha, and Kasur. Besides this Maryam Nawaz welfare centres are being established in Lahore, Islamabad and Faisalabad”. Faisal Khokhar further said that tele-clinics, Cardiac City (200 beds), and modern ambulances are being ensured in 27 hospitals of the province. “A minimum monthly wage of Rs37,000 has been announced and 720 flats for workers have been completed in Sunder (Phase I) and 504 flats in Taxila”.
Labour Wing President Syed Mushtaq Hussain said that we are united to raise the voice of the working class to protect their rights. “Today's convention is a manifestation of workers' confidence and we stand with them on every forum”. The labour leaders in the convention also appreciated the steps of the Punjab government.
