Blast claims life of child in Waziristan
Children were walking near the checkpoint when the explosion occurred
WANA: A powerful bomb explosion near a Frontier Corps (FC) checkpoint in Azam Warsak located in Birmal tehsil of Lower South Waziristan on Wednesday claimed the life of one child and left another critically injured.
According to local sources, the children were walking near the checkpoint when the explosion occurred, striking both of them.
The injured child was immediately transported to the District Headquarters Hospital in Wana for emergency medical treatment.
Both children belong to the Sulemankhel tribe.
Residents expressed concern over the rising frequency of such incidents in recent days, stating that the surge in bomb blasts had instilled widespread fear and severely disrupted daily life across Lower South Waziristan.
This incident follows a deadly explosion just two days earlier in Wana’s Rustam Bazaar, which initially claimed seven lives. The death toll later rose to eleven, including Commander Saif-ur-Rehman, a member of the local peace committee.
Twenty-six others were injured in that attack, several of whom remain in critical condition and are being treated in various hospitals.
Residents urged the government and security forces to implement effective security measures to restore peace in the region and safeguard the lives and property of its citizens.
