PSL reaches milestone of 300 matches

LAHORE: The HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) has reached a major landmark, completing 300 matches since its inception in 2016. The historic moment unfolded as Quetta Gladiators squared off against Multan Sultans at Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Quetta Gladiators hold a unique distinction, having participated in both the first-ever PSL match—played on February 4, 2016, at Dubai International Cricket Stadium—and the 300th fixture, securing victories on both occasions.

Over its ten seasons, the HBL PSL has evolved into one of cricket’s most dynamic leagues, showcasing the finest talent from Pakistan and around the world. The league continues to offer thrilling encounters, star performances, and unforgettable moments to millions of passionate fans.

Several players have etched their names into PSL history with remarkable individual achievements: Babar Azam leads the charts as the highest run-scorer with 3,621 runs in 96 matches, holding the records for most half-centuries (34) and most fours (401) in PSL history.

Hasan Ali stands atop the bowling rankings with 121 wickets in 88 matches, making him the most prolific wicket-taker in the league. Jason Roy holds the record for the highest individual score in a PSL match—145 runs against Peshawar Zalmi in 2023.

Fakhar Zaman remains the league’s six-hitting machine with 117 sixes in 90 matches. Ravi Bopara’s spell of 6-16 in Season 1 remains the best bowling performance in PSL history. Mohammad Rizwan, a standout wicket-keeper, leads in dismissals with 84 catches and stumpings, while also amassing 2,749 runs.

Sarfraz Ahmed, the long-time captain of Quetta Gladiators, holds the record for most matches as captain (80) and most wins (38). Renowned umpire Aleem Dar, a pivotal figure in PSL since its inaugural season, has officiated the most PSL matches (81).
