ISLAMABAD: Spokesperson Pakistan Peoples Party (Parliamentarians) Shazia Marri thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday for fulfilling his promise for the resolution of the canals issue in the meeting of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) and also felicitated Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for the way he solved this issue.

“Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari took a good step together and we also thank everyone who played a role in the CCI meeting that resolved the issue amicably and it has been decided that the federal government will not build any canal,” she said while talking to the media persons outside the Parliament House.

Marri said President Asif Ali Zardari also played a very good role and spoke clearly on this issue in his presidential address in the joint session of the parliament. “Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah did a great job by pleading the case of Sindh,” she added.

She further said the Pakistan Peoples Party was opposing the new canals project on the Indus River for a long time and Chairman PPP Bilawal had been raising his voice on the canals issue for a long time.
