PESHAWAR: The district administration demolished over 50 illegal structures during an anti-encroachment operation in Changharabad locality of the provincial capital and reclaimed more than 17 kanals of government land valuing over Rs2 billion.
The operation was launched on the directives of Commissioner Peshawar Riaz Khan Mahsud, Deputy Commissioner Sarmed Salim Akram and was supervised by Additional Deputy Commissioner Rao Hashim Azeem. The action, which took place along Supply Road, was jointly conducted by officers of the Capital Metropolitan Government, police, civil defence, traffic police and the district administration, including Assistant Commissioner (City) Dawood Salimi and Additional Assistant Commissioner Tanzilur Rehman.
Heavy machinery was used to remove dozens of illegal shops and other encroachments. The operation lasted several hours amid tight security arrangements to ensure the process remained peaceful and uninterrupted. Deputy Commissioner Sarmed Salim Akram said that the administration would continue operations without discrimination to reclaim public spaces and ensure unobstructed access for citizens.
“Encroachments not only disrupt traffic flow but also deprive the public of essential civic facilities,” he said, adding that no individual or group would be considered above the law.He noted that all departments were working under a coordinated plan to restore order in the city and promote a clean and citizen friendly environment. He urged residents to cooperate with the administration and refrain from contributing to the problem.
