KU rally condemns India’s acts of provocation
The faculty and students of the University of Karachi on Monday held a protest rally against India’s aggression and its decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty.
The University of Karachi organised the protest rally against Indian aggression, irresponsible actions, and threats to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty. The rally was led by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi and attended by the faculty members, students and non-teaching employees.
The rally started from the KU’s administrative building and concluded at Azadi Chowk. The participants carried banners and placards condemning India’s aggressive stance, denouncing the potential suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, and expressing solidarity with Pakistan. Chants such as ‘Pakistan Zindabad,’ ‘India, Back Off,’ and ‘Long Live the Pakistan Army’ were echoed throughout the rally.
Speaking to the media, Dr Khalid Iraqi emphasized that India’s actions pose a serious threat not only to Pakistan but to regional peace and stability as a whole. He reiterated that the Indus Waters Treaty is an internationally recognized agreement, and India cannot unilaterally suspend it.
He urged the global community to take notice of India’s provocative actions and contribute to sustainable peace in South Asia. “Suspending the Indus Waters Treaty is a calculated attempt to endanger Pakistan’s agriculture, economy, and livelihoods. Such reckless behaviour could push South Asia toward a new conflict. However, Pakistan remains united, and alongside its armed forces, it is prepared to counter any hostile plans.”
Meanwhile, the Sir Syed University and Aligarh Institute of Technology announced they will organize a students rally expressing National Solidarity. The chancellor Sir Syed University has emphasized that the youth are the true custodians of the nation's future, and their active participation in this event highlights a strong, united front against any form of hostility.
