Bracewell optimistic Sultans can still make comeback
LAHORE: Multan Sultans’ New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell has admitted that the team has struggled to deliver a complete performance in PSL 10 but remains optimistic about their chances of a comeback.
Speaking to media in Lahore, Bracewell emphasised the importance of teamwork and consistency as the tournament progresses. Bracewell acknowledged that their current position on the points table—just one win out of six matches—is far from ideal. “We have played some good cricket, but intermittently. If we are honest, we haven’t delivered a complete performance. There have been some individual brilliance, but as a team, we haven’t been able to put in a full effort consistently, and that’s why we are where we are on the points table,” he remarked.
Despite the setbacks, Bracewell noted the team’s commitment to improving. “There isn’t one obvious issue holding us back. It’s disappointing to be in this position, but we are working hard to rectify things. There is certainly no lack of effort from our side. Everyone is training hard,” he added.
Bracewell expressed confidence in captain Mohammad Rizwan, praising his leadership and ability to adapt to conditions. “Rizwan is a fantastic captain. We all support him and believe in him. He played a brilliant innings against Lahore Qalandars, assessing the conditions very well. It’s unfortunate that we couldn’t defend 185,” he said.
He acknowledged that while strong individual performances have come through—whether with the bat or the ball—delivering in unison during the same game remains a challenge. “T20 cricket is fast-paced; every match has crucial moments that can change the outcome, and unfortunately, we haven’t been able to capitalize on those moments,” Bracewell observed.
Commenting on their game against Lahore Qalandars, Bracewell highlighted the difficulty of bowling spin in those conditions and defended their decision to go with four seamers.
