LAHORE : The University of Okara (UO) Academic Council, in its 11th meeting, chaired by the Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Sajjad Mubin, unanimously approved the establishment of three new faculties and 16 degree programmes.
The agenda of the meeting was presented by the Registrar, Dr Ghulam Mustafa, and Director Academics, Dr Khalid Nadeem Riaz. The Academic Council established the Faculty of Pharmacy, Nursing and Midwifery and Faculty of Allied Health Sciences. The newly-approved programmes included Doctor of Pharmacy, BS Nursing & Midwifery, Doctor of Physical Therapy, BSc Agriculture (majoring in Agronomy), BSc Horticulture & Plant Pathology, Bachelor of Architecture, BSc City & Regional Planning, BS Islamic Art & Architecture, BFA Product Design, BS Artificial Intelligence, BS Cyber Security, BS Mathematics (Data Science), MS/MPhil Climate Change & Sustain Development, MS/MPhil Disaster Management, MS Political Science and MS International Relations.
Discussing the objectives of these programmes, Prof Mubin said, “The dynamics of the modern job market are rapidly changing and traditional degrees no more help students in getting reasonable jobs. We have started market-driven degrees that cannot only enable students to seek highly-paid jobs but also capacitate them to start their own small-scale businesses’’.
