KP Information Commission to recommend action against officials
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Commission has decided to recommend disciplinary action against officials for failing to provide requested information, while some complaints were dismissed where departments had complied and shared the required information.
The hearing on citizens’ complaints was presided over by Chief Commissioner Farah Hamid.The commission was informed that the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Mardan had uploaded all public-interest information on its website, leading to the dismissal of the complaints filed against it.
Similarly, the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Mardan had provided the requested information.Public Information Officers (PIOs) from the University of Swabi, Civil Defence Peshawar, Health Services Academy, Science and Technology Department, Peshawar Development Authority, and Labour Department appeared before the commission to explain their actions over various complaints.
In another case, UET Peshawar was directed to immediately submit information to the Commission regarding students who had obtained foreign scholarships.On a complaint about Civil Defence Peshawar’s failure to provide information, the Commission ordered the department’s PIO to submit a response within three days or face disciplinary action.
In a separate case, Bilal Khan from Peshawar had requested recruitment advertisements, merit lists, and certificates of selected candidates for class IV positions from the Labour Department. The commission instructed the department to provide the requested information within ten days.
Meanwhile, the Health Services Academy’s PIO requested three more days to provide the necessary documents to the complainant. The commission also decided to issue show-cause notices to the Communications and Works Department Swabi and the district police office Tank, for failing to appear at the hearing.
