GHA protesters’ forced entry to PA halted
LAHORE:The health professionals protesting under the banner of Grand Health Alliance, Punjab, tried to enter the Punjab Assembly on the 9th day of the sit-in, which was stopped by the police at the gates of Punjab Assembly.
The young doctors, nurses, paramedics are protesting against the privatisation of Basic Health Units (BHUs), Rural Health Centres (RHCs) and Jinnah Hospital, Lahore, on the Mall Road. On Tuesday, the participants tried to enter the assembly on the occasion of the Punjab Assembly session, where the police stopped their forced entry into the Assembly building. Lahore Bar Association President Chaudhry Mubashir Rehman Gujjar along with the members participated the GHA Punjab sit-in and assured them of his full support. Speaking on the occasion, Mubashir Rehman said that LBA recognised GHA's struggle and would not accept privatisation of government hospitals. The lawyer community will hold a convention on Thursday (tomorrow) and invite GHA to participate in it, which will be followed by a rally up to the GHA’s sit-in outside the PA.
