‘Punjab awards record scholarships to top athletes’

LAHORE:Punjab has set a remarkable precedent by becoming the first province in Pakistan to issue the highest amount of scholarships to athletes at the govt level. Punjab Minister for Labour, Youth Affairs and Sports Faisal Ayub Khokhar, made this announcement during an important meeting at the National Hockey Stadium on Wednesday.
The minister said that 60 athletes have been awarded scholarships in three categories - Platinum, Gold, and Silver - with monthly amounts of Rs70,000, Rs50,000, and Rs30,000 respectively. These scholarships are granted for a one-year period, with the minister outlining an ambitious target to expand the plan to benefit 300 athletes in Punjab.
