ISLAMABAD: Nadir Mirza and Abubakar Talha entered semis-finals of the ITF Pakistan Zainab Ali Naqvi Memorial World Juniors Tennis Championship Leg-1 following contrasting wins at the PTF Tennis Complex Wednesday.
Nadir (PAK) defeated Rodion Likashov (KAZ) in a tough three-set match 2-6, 6-4, 7-6(4). Abubakar Talha (PAK) had no such issues as he prevailed over Haolin Liu (CHN) easily 6-1, 6-0 to make it to the semis.
Amir Mazari lost his match to a much experienced Takaya Ishi (JPN). The Japanese player won 6-3, 6-0 to progress to the last four stage. The championship is dedicated to the memory of Zainab Ali Naqvi, a talented young tennis player from Karachi who tragically passed away on February 12, 2024, due to a heart attack while participating in an ITF Junior Tournament in Islamabad.
