A notorious gang leader allegedly involved in the murder of a 22-year-old man during a robbery at a medical store in Zaman Town during Ramazan has been killed in a police encounter.

Three of his accomplices have also been arrested, and weapons recovered from their possession. The gang, identified as the “Kashmiri Gang,” is allegedly involved in multiple robberies across Karachi.

According to Korangi SSP Tariq Nawaz, the exchange of gunfire took place near Sector 50-C, where Zaman Town police, acting on intelligence, confronted the four-member gang. The killed suspect was identified as Mirza Ali, son of Shaukat Ali. He was believed to be the ringleader of the Kashmiri Gang. His three accomplices — Abdullah, Faizan, and Sami — were apprehended during the raid. All suspects are residents of the Korangi area.

The suspects were allegedly involved in the March 19 robbery at a medical store in Korangi 6, where they shot and killed Shoaib, the 22-year-old store owner, when he resisted the robbery. Shoaib was the only brother to three sisters.

The gang was also linked to a March 26 robbery at a travel agency near Karachi Cantonment Station. During that incident, the gang shot and injured a staffer, Abbas, who chased the robbers as they fled the scene.

SSP Nawaz confirmed that two of the suspects — Mirza Ali and Faizan — had previously been jailed twice, while Sami had served time once. Police also recovered weapons and other evidences.

The raid was led by Zaman Town SHO Ghulam Nabi Afridi and his team, following technical surveillance confirming the gang’s presence in the area. A fierce gun battle ensued, resulting in the neutralization of the gang leader. According to investigators, the gang is responsible for 25 to 30 robberies in Zaman Town and Korangi Industrial Area.
