Man stabbed to death
LAHORE : A 26-year-old man was stabbed to death in the limits of Hadyara police.
The victim identified as Dilawar was attacked with knives. He succumbed to his wounds in hospital.
Following a distress call made to the police helpline 15, the police apprehended the main accused, Usman, who has been remanded in custody. A case has been registered on the complaint of the deceased's brother, Babar Ghafoor, against the named accused — Usman, Bilal, Haider — along with 2–3 unidentified individuals.
The police and forensic teams collected evidence from the crime scene, while the body was taken into custody and shifted to the morgue for postmortem. Law enforcement officials have launched a manhunt for the fleeing suspects.
19 cops penalised over misconduct
At least 19 cops were penalised for misconduct during a weekly Orderly Room session chaired by DIG Operations at Police Lines, Qila Gujjar Singh.
The officers faced disciplinary action for negligence, corruption, and misuse of authority, while three appeals against earlier punishments were also rejected, a police spokesperson said.
Over the past 11 months, departmental action has been taken against 357 officers, including the dismissal of four Inspectors, three Sub-Inspectors, and 10 other personnel.
Multiple suspects arrested
Lahore Police arrested multiple suspects involved in serious crimes across the city.
Kahna police arrested a man who shot and killed his 23-year-old sister, Muqaddas, on March 29. The Dolphin Squad apprehended robbers Zafar and Fareed in Manawan, recovering weapons and a stolen motorcycle.
Tibbi City Police arrested Farhan, who was caught on video robbing visitors at Badshahi Mosque under the guise of guarding shoes.
In Nawab Town, bootlegger Ali Shah Masih was arrested with over 30 bottles of counterfeit liquor. Iqbal Town Police arrested Mohsin Raza for running a prostitution den in Hotel Four Season Inn. Five men and five women were also detained. Meanwhile, Akbari Gate Police reunited a 14-year-old mentally ill boy with his family.
Road accidents
The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,498 road accidents in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.
In these road accidents, 10 people died, whereas 1826 were injured. Out of these, 854 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 972 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.
