Two alleged terrorists of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were stated to have been killed in an encounter by the Counter Terrorism Department’s (CTD-II) Operations Wing, during early hours of Tuesday.
The men were found from Gulshan-e-Maymar with the assistance of an intelligence agency, read a statement issued by CTD Sindh. They resorted to firing at the security officials upon which the officials retaliated and managed to injure two of the men while the rest fled.
The terrorists on their way to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) divulged all information regarding their activities and identified themselves as Inamullah alias Kamran and Mohammad Shafee alias Yaseen.
They were pronounced dead by JPMC officials on arrival. A Kalashnikov, pistol and ammunition were also recovered from their possession.
The CTD statement maintained that the men belonged to Mohmand Agency and were residing in Korangi area in Karachi. They also told the security officials of carrying out attacks on security forces in Chaar Bagh, Gul Bagh, Waliya Badh, Kashkoor and other areas of Swat.
The men were also alleged to be associated with the TTP’s Jamatul Ahrar group, whereas Inamullah was the commander of the group in Karachi. He was also alleged to take extortions from traders and transfer the money to their heads upcountry. Further investigations are underway.
10 arrested
The paramilitary force claimed to have arrested 10 suspects in separate raids conducted in Nazimabad, New Karachi, Steel Town, Landhi, Sultanabad and Malir.
Three of them arrested were target killers associated with a political party’s militant wing, while six were affiliated with banned outfits and used to demand extortions. Weapons and ammunition were also seized from their possession.
