KARACHI: The Home Department has given the status of sub-jail to an office of the Federal Investigation Agency mainly to intern the accused given on judicial remand related to Axact Company’s fake degrees scandal, it was learnt on Tuesday.
Sources in the FIA Karachi said Tuesday evening that mainly a barrack of Counter-Terrorism Wing of FIA based in the city had been given the status of sub-jail and a notification to this effect was issued by the Home Department.
Geo News TV reported that barrack number 48-A of Pakistan Secretariat under the control of FIA had been accorded the status of a sub-jail.The channel reported that initially two accused persons related to Axact company scandal, who had been sent to regular jail under court orders, were initially shifted to the newly declared sub-jail.
The Sindh prison authorities would fully manage and administer the affairs of the sub-jail including timings of visitors for meeting.The jail authorities would also determine daily routines and timetable of the accused.
The sub-jail would also be used for further investigation and interrogation of the accused persons related to Axact company scandal and also those involved in similar white-collar, financial and human smuggling crimes.
