Opposition’s alliance to fully emerge after Eid: MWM chief
“Since day one, the government has lost its existence among the people.” says Allama
RAWALPINDI: Majlis-s-Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen (MWM) head Senator Allama Raja Nasir Thursday stated that a society cannot progress if its people are deprived of their basic rights. He emphasised that the entire world recognises that societies cannot function without the rule of law, adding that an opposition alliance would be fully functional after Eid.
Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Senator Abbas expressed frustration over being denied a meeting with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder chairman Imran Khan. “Even today, we were not allowed to meet. We were made to wait for hours and then sent back. I don’t know what the government is afraid of,” he said.
He stressed that meeting Imran was their legal right. “By blacking out the founder, I don’t know what the government wants to achieve. Such attitudes are not only harming the government itself but also the entire country. No government can succeed without the support of the people,” he remarked.
“Since day one, the government has lost its existence among the people. The public has no trust in the government, which is resorting to dishonesty. If Pakistan is to be saved, the rulers will have to speak the truth,” he added.
The MWM chief asserted that the people only trust Imran Khan and that his release from jail was essential. “Only the PTI founder can pull the country out of crises. The world does not trust the current rulers,” he said.
Senator Abbas urged the government to release the former prime minister, stating, “It is necessary to release the founder by stepping out of the shell of arrogance. Every measure taken by the government is driven by fear of the founder. PICA, the 26th amendment, and other actions are a continuation of this fear.”
He welcomed the opposition’s unity, noting, “The opposition agrees that Pakistan’s existence is at risk. There is consensus that we must unite for the supremacy of the Constitution. Insha’Allah, after Eid, the opposition’s alliance will fully emerge.”
Senator Abbas reiterated the demand for a joint parliamentary session to discuss law and order. “Our demand was that Parliament should issue a unified message against terrorism. Speak to Imran; all these amendments and actions are happening out of fear of him,” he added.
He warned against wasting time, stating, “The country’s stability and existence are at stake. The PTI founder must be released without delay.”
Earlier, Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, MNA Sahibzada Hamid Raza, and former federal minister Azam Swati arrived at Adiala Jail to meet the PTI founder but were denied permission. Consequently, the leaders left the jail without meeting him.
