Transparency ensured in medical financial affairs, says minister

LAHORE:Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said 100 percent transparency is being ensured in the financial affairs of Punjab’s medical universities, adding modern research is also being promoted in Punjab’s medical institutions.

Speaking at a meeting, Khawaja Salman Rafique said efforts are being made to provide better health facilities to the people according to the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The 17th Syndicate meeting of Rawalpindi Medical University was held at the Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education here on Thursday.

The minister approved various agendas during the Syndicate meeting. He appreciated the efforts of Vice Chancellor Professor Muhammad Umar for the outstanding performance of Rawalpindi Medical University. During the Syndicate meeting, approval was given for extension of contracts of non gazetted employees from scale 2 to scale 16.

During the syndicate meeting, approval was given for extension of contracts of 9 gazetted employees. Approval was given for appointment of contract of ad hoc employees of Rawalpindi Medical University for the next six months and during the syndicate meeting, approval was also given for various agendas of Holy Family Hospital, Benazir Bhutto Hospital and Rawalpindi Teaching Hospital.

A meeting was held in the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department under the chairmanship of Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique. During the meeting, courses for health professionals in Hospital Management, Procurement and Inventory Control, Financial and Resource Management, Budgeting and Financial Planning, Human Resource and Leadership, Ethics and Legal Aspects and Conflict Management were reviewed. Secretary Health Punjab Azmat Mahmood attended the meeting, while Dean IPH presented course outlines and other suggestions in this regard. Khawaja Salman said that the MS of the hospital should have the qualities of a leader.
