PCB chief takes notice of reduced match fees of domestic cricketers
LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has stepped in to halt the reduction in match fees for domestic cricketers set to participate in the upcoming National T20 Cup 2025. His intervention comes after reports surfaced regarding a planned decrease in players’ earnings for the tournament.
A PCB spokesperson confirmed that Chairman Naqvi has directed officials to ensure that no player faces a financial setback due to revised payment structures. He has instructed Abdullah Khurram Niazi, the Director of Domestic Cricket, to take immediate steps to prevent any reduction in match fees. “Naqvi’s swift action underscores his commitment to supporting Pakistan’s domestic players, who rely on these earnings as a crucial source of income.
His directive ensures that players across all participating teams will receive their full expected compensation without any deductions.”
The National T20 Cup 2025 is scheduled to take place from March 15 to March 27, featuring 18 teams representing 16 regions. A total of 39 matches will be played across three host cities: Faisalabad, Lahore, and Multan. The decision to maintain match fees has been welcomed by domestic players and cricket analysts alike, who see it as a positive step toward strengthening Pakistan’s domestic cricket system.
