The deteriorating road conditions in several areas of Karachi pose a significant threat to resident's safety and well-being. Shahrah-e-Faisal, the city’s main artery, has numerous potholes and cracks, especially around the area near Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The damaged surface causes traffic bottlenecks and increases the risks of accidents. Similarly, Korangi Road is riddled with potholes and waterlogging issues making it almost impossible to drive safely during the rainy season. University Road has also become notorious for its potholes, cracks and uneven surface, which cause heavy traffic. The problems on this road hit students particularly hard since it is the main road leading to several large universities.
Another area of concern is MA Jinnah Road, particularly near the Ramswami area, where large potholes have remained unrepaired for months. The conditions worsen during the monsoon season, with standing water further exacerbating the situation, forcing commuters to manoeuvre through flooded sections of the road, which is not only dangerous but also time consuming. These roads, which serve as vital arteries for the city’s transportation, need to be urgently repaired and maintained. Right now, they not only waste time but also put the lives of commuters at risk.
