PTV win President’s Trophy
RAWALPINDI: PTV overcame a strong challenge from State Bank to win the President Trophy Grade I final at the Pindi Stadium.
On the fourth day Friday, PTV managed to hit the winning 153 runs target for the loss of seven wickets with Shamyal Hussain (58), being the top scorer for PTV. Kashif picked up 4 for 54 for State Back.
PTV kept on losing wickets on fourth day after resuming at the overnight scor or 69 for 1. Mohammad Taha (19), Mohammad Mohsin (15) lost their wickets cheaply. Captain Amad Butt who earlier picked five wickets, kept PTV in the game striking crucial 17 not out to take the team home.
Earlier, Amad Butt’s five-wicket haul put PTV on the cusp of win against SBP at the end of third day’s play of the President’s Trophy Grade-I final at the Pindi Stadium. At stumps, PTV were 69-1 in 13 overs with 84 runs required to win the match.
Earlier, SBP after resuming their second innings at the overnight score of 37-1 were bowled out for 264 in 76.2 overs. Rameez Aziz top-scored for his side with a 97-ball 47, hitting four boundaries, while Saud Shakeel contributed 45 off 82 balls, hitting six fours.
For PTV, right-arm fast Amad ended-up with figures of 5-84 in 27 overs, while Ali Usman and Mohammad Ibtisam took two wickets each. Scores in brief: SBP 205 all out, 54.2 overs (Imran Butt 89, Rameez Aziz 40; Muhammad Shahzad 5-29, Ali Usman 2-10) and 264 all out, 76.2 overs (Rameez Aziz 47, Saud Shakeel 45, Imran Butt 42; Amad Butt 5-84, Ali Usman 2-23, Mohammad Ibtisam 2-58). PTV 317 all out.
