Bachat Bazaars set up to alleviate inflation’s impact: Sharjeel

The Sindh government has set up Bachat Bazaars across the province to alleviate the impact of inflation during Ramazan, said Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Thursday.

Memon said that this initiative is a part of the government’s people-friendly policy. The goal of this initiative is to provide basic necessities at affordable prices and shield the middle- and low-income classes from the effects of inflation, he added.

He said that providing relief to people is the top priority of the government, adding that the establishment of Bachat Bazaars is a step in this direction so that the burden of inflation can be eased.

He pointed out that these markets offer daily essentials at lower prices to help alleviate the hardships of ordinary residents. The government has taken comprehensive measures to ensure transparency and effective administrative supervision of these markets, he added.

He also said government officers have been deployed at each market to monitor prices, and promptly prevent any profiteering, hoarding or mismanagement. He clarified that profiteering and mismanagement would not be tolerated under any circumstances, and strict action would be taken against those who violate the rules.

Memon said the thrift markets are being continuously monitored to ensure price stability and quality of goods. He urged the public to take full advantage of these markets and report any complaints directly to the officers concerned.

First printing museum

Sindh Industries and Commerce Minister Jam Ikramullah Dharejo said that it is a proud moment for the province that the first printing museum in Pakistan’s history is in the final stages of completion. It will be inaugurated soon and be opened to the public, he added.

During Dharejo’s visit to the printing press, Controller Faheem Qureshi of the printing & stationery department briefed the minister about the museum, saying that ancient machines have been beautifully preserved, along with various stages of printing and different periods of printed material.

Dharejo appreciated the department’s performance, and ordered that the work be completed as soon as possible, and a better facility be provided to people. He said printing industries has a unique status for the people concerned. He also expressed a keen interest in the items at the museum.
