Sindh wants to introduce electric scooters for women, Sharjeel tells Chinese investors
Sindh Senior Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon has said the provincial government has been actively working towards the early introduction of electric scooters for women in Sindh.
He said this while talking to a delegation of Chinese entrepreneurs involved in manufacture of electric scooters on Wednesday. The meeting was also attended by Sindh Transport and Mass Transit Secretary Asad Zamin and Sindh Mass Transit Authority Managing Director Kamal Dayo. Detailed deliberations took place in the meeting on the introduction of electric scooters in the province and possibilities of modernising the transport system.
The delegation was interested in investing in the transport sector of Sindh and submitted their proposals to promote modern and environment-friendly travel facilities. The delegation also delivered a briefing to Memon about the company's latest technology and transport systems.
Welcoming the interest shown by the prospective Chinese investors, the transport minister offered them to establish an electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing plant in Sindh. He assured the delegation of the Sindh government’s full cooperation and investment-friendly policies.
Memon stated that the Sindh government was making dedicated efforts to empower the women of the province. He added that a plan was under consideration to provide 1,000 electric scooters to working women and female students soon. Furthermore, he emphasised that the manufacturing of electric vehicles in the province would boost industrial development and create new employment opportunities.
