England cricketers in Lahore for Champions Trophy
LAHORE: The England cricket team arrived in Lahore on Tuesday for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is set to begin on Wednesday with Pakistan and New Zealand match at Karachi. The team, led by captain Jos Buttler, touched down at Lahore airport on Tuesday via Dubai.
A 31-member contingent, comprising players and support staff, including head coach Brendon McCullum and Managing Director Robert Key, made the journey to Pakistan. This marks England’s first visit to Pakistan since they last toured here last year, and signifies a major step towards normalization of international cricket in the country.
England is scheduled to play its group stage matches in Lahore and Karachi. Their opening match is a highly anticipated clash against traditional rivals Australia on February 22 at the Gaddafi Stadium.
This encounter is expected to be a thrilling contest between two of the world’s leading cricketing nations. England’s second group stage match will be against Afghanistan on February 26, also at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. They will then travel to Karachi to face South Africa in their final group stage match on March 1st at the National Stadium.
The PCB has been working tirelessly to create a safe and secure environment for international teams to tour Pakistan, and their efforts have been rewarded with the successful hosting of several high-profile cricket events in recent years.
