Court records statements of 8 more witnesses in GHQ attack case

RAWALPINDI: The Special Anti-Terrorism Court of Rawalpindi recorded the statements of 8 more witnesses in the GHQ attack case against

former PTI chairman Imran Khan and former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and other accused on Saturday.

The court adjourned the hearing till February 26 after recording statements of witnesses, while a total of 25 witnesses have been recorded in the case so far.

On Saturday hearing, the former PTI chairman was presented in the courtroom on the occasion of the 9th hearing for the regular trial of the case.

Fawad Chaudhry, Raja Basharat, Shehryar Afridi and other accused were also present on the occasion. During the hearing, Prosecutor Syed Zaheer Shah recorded the statements of 8 more witnesses in the case.

Sub-Inspector Aqeel Ahmed produced details of absconding accused Murad Saeed, Hammad Azhar including warrant, raids and advertisements of Raja Basharat and Zulfi Bukhari before the court as evidence.

On this occasion, 8 prosecution witnesses including Sub-Inspector Babar Sajjad, Rajab Ali, Ahmed Nawaz, ASI Aqeel Ahmed, ASI Adnan Ahsan, Shamrez Mehboob, Constable Talib Hussain, Lady Constable Samra Ashfaq recorded their testimonies.

The female police officer presented the mobile phones recovered from the accused Nadia Hussain and Fatima Ahsan to the court, while the prosecution also presented mobile phones, sticks and other equipment to the court.

The court has adjourned the hearing till February 26 for further proceedings. Thus, the testimonies of a total of 25 witnesses have been recorded in the case.
