Babar breaks another record
KARACHI: Star batter Babar Azam has reached the milestone of 6,000 runs in one-day international (ODI) cricket.
He now shares the record for the fastest player to score 6,000 runs, matching Hashim Amla’s record of completing the runs in 123 innings. In addition to this achievement, Babar has also become the fastest Asian player to reach 6,000 runs. Previously, India’s Virat Kohli had reached the milestone in 136 innings.
The former skipper is now the 11th Pakistani batter to achieve 6,000 ODI runs. Other notable Pakistani players who have reached this landmark include Inzamam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Yousuf, Saeed Anwar, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Javed Miandad, Younis Khan, Saleem Malik, Mohammad Hafeez, and Ejaz Ahmed.

It is the highest for any batter at the time of reaching 6000 runs in men’s ODIs (that is, average at the end of the innings during which they completed the milestone). The previous highest was by Michael Bevan, who averaged 54.70 when he reached 6000 runs in his 167th innings.
