BUREWALA: A prayer leader was shot dead on Wednesday in Chak No. 561-EB, within the jurisdiction of the Machiwal police station, after a 9-year-old boy accused him of sexual misconduct.
Muhammad Umar, son of Asif, who had been attending lessons with the imam, refused to go for his studies. When questioned by his uncle, Ijaz Ahmed, the child revealed that the imam had previously been involved in immoral acts with him and had threatened him with dire consequences if he did not visit him after school.
The child’s statement was captured in a video obtained by news outlets. Outraged by the child’s statement, Ijaz Ahmed reportedly entered Qari Mukhtar’s residence and shot him dead for alleged honour and retaliation.
