KOHAT: The district administration, Karak, on Tuesday, handed over the bodies of five alleged militants, who were killed in a clash with security forces, to their families, officials said.The families of the slain militants had demanded the return of the bodies.
The bodies were exhumed from the graveyard in Karak and taken to their respective hometowns for burial.The militants were killed during a security operation in Karak’s Said Karam area, where forces had engaged in an armed confrontation with members of the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The TTP had also demanded the return of bodies of the militants killed in the operationA day after the operation, militant commander Kashif released a video statement, in which he issued threats to the government and security institutions.
In the video, the TTP commander demanded the return of the bodies of the militants who were killed in a security forces’ operation in Karak’s Said Karam area.According to security officials, five wanted terrorists were eliminated during the joint operation conducted in Karak.
The deceased were identified as Muhammad Shoaib, son of Muzaffar Khan, a resident Bannu, and brother of militant KaleemullahWajid alias Sangari, son of Sher Bahadur, a resident of Banda Daud Shah, Karak, Sabeel Khan, son of Maan Khan, from the Wazir tribe, a resident of Bannu, Badal Jan, son of Amanullah, a resident of North Waziristan and Shah Qiaz, son of Gul Zahir Shah, a resident of Karak.Security forces had confirmed that the operation was conducted on intelligence reports and that the slain militants were involved in several acts of terrorism.
