Court allows students to appear in medical exam
PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Monday conditionally allowed three final-year students of the Jinnah Medical College to appear in the final-year examination.
The two-member bench of the PHC comprising Justice Waqar Ahmad and Justice Inaamullah delivered the verdict. The court disposed of the petition accordingly after directing the students to clear their outstanding dues within a month.
During the hearing of the petition filed by Sher Ali and others through Ameen Khattak and Syed Ali Shah advocate, the petitioners’ lawyers informed the court that their clients were final-year students of the college.
They were transferred to the college after directives from the Pakistan Medical Commission and multiple court rulings. The lawyers argued that their clients had outstanding dues but were being denied permission by the college administration to appear in the final-year examination, which was about to begin. The administration had made the clearance of dues a prerequisite for appearing in the exams. The petitioners requested the court to grant them time to pay the tuition fees while allowing them to take the exams as delaying their studies could jeopardize their academic progress.
