Four-tier security system developed for Tri-Nation Cricket Series
LAHORE : DIG Operations Lahore M Faisal Kamran said a four-tier security system has been established to ensure foolproof security for cricket players and fans during Tri-Nation Cricket Series.
He reviewed the security arrangements for the first match of the Tri-Nation Cricket Series by inspecting the routes of the teams and the surroundings of Gaddafi Stadium. He met with the deployed personnel and also monitored the checking process for cricket spectators.
He said additionally, 813 police personnel have been assigned to city entry checkpoints. 818 personnel are stationed in the first security cordon. 439 personnel are deployed in the second security cordon while 1,538 police officers and personnel are performing duties in the third security cordon. Each security cordon is supervised by officers of SP rank.
He further stated that a total of more than 3,600 officers and personnel have been deployed for the security of the first match in Lahore. Additionally, 229 female officers are performing security and checking duties for women. Faisal Kamran instructed the on-duty personnel to remain alert, guide spectators, and maintain a polite and professional attitude.
Moreover, DIG Operations conducted surprise visits to ensure the provision of food to the on-duty personnel at their respective posts. He boosted the morale of his force by sharing a meal with the officers and personnel. He emphasised that ensuring the convenience of his officers and personnel is among his top priorities. A total of over 13,000 personnel have been deployed for the security of the cricket tri-series, speakers’ conference, and political and law enforcement duties. He commended the police officers and personnel who are diligently performing their duties under challenging circumstances.
Road accidents
The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,432 road accidents in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.
In these road accidents, 16 people died, whereas 1652 were injured. Out of these, 710 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 942 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.
Furthermore, the analysis showed those 879 drivers, 68 underage drivers, 197 pedestrians, and 592 passengers were among the victims of road traffic crashes.
The statistics showed that 245 road accidents were reported in Lahore which affected 291 persons placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by Gujranwala 86 in with 101 victims and at third Multan with 81 road accidents and 104 victims.
The details further revealed that 1,668 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 1,317 males & 351 females, while the age group of the victims shows that 270 were under 18 years of age, 911 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 487 victims were reported above 40 years of age.
According to the data 1,392 motorbikes, 84 auto-rickshaws, 173 motorcars, 31 vans, 13 passenger buses, 26 truck and 127 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in aforesaid road traffic accidents.
