The Directorate of Colleges Education Karachi Region has banned the collection of fees in cash from students in all colleges of Karachi.

A notification issued by Regional Director Faqir Muhammad Lakho said that all the principals of the colleges are informed that the collection of any type of cash fee from the students at the student dealing counters of colleges is strictly banned.

It further stated that it is the responsibility of the college principals to keep watch on the routine affairs being carried out at the student dealing counters of the college and make sure that all types of fees from the students are deposited in the college bank account only.

It may also be noted that the college principal shall solely be held responsible if any untoward incidents with regard to the collection of cash fee occurs at the college. It should be noted that last week, the college staff misappropriated the associate degree examination fees of 250 students of the Government College for Women Nazimabad and Jinnah College Nazimabad, due to which the admit cards of the students could not be issued on time.

Later, the Controller of Examinations of the University of Karachi, Dr Zafar, issued admit cards to 250 students on an emergency basis, while the college principal also filed an FIR of misappropriation.
