Father, son die in road accident

LAHORE:A speeding trailer claimed the lives of a father and son on Multan Road in the Chuhng area, police said. According to an Edhi Foundation spokesperson, the victims identified as 65-year old Safdar and his 21-year old son Mudassir were riding a motorcycle when they were struck by the heavy vehicle. Both died on the spot. On receiving the report, police reached the scene and shifted the bodies to the morgue via Edhi ambulances.

Two robbers arrested

Sabzazar police Friday arrested two suspected robbers. Acting on a tip-off, police detained two members of Imran alias Mani dacoit gang and recovered weapons, cash, a motorcycle, and stolen valuables from their possession. According to a police spokesperson, the accused identified as Imran alias Mani and Salman were arrested when they were planning a robbery. The accused were involved in multiple armed robberies, snatching mobile phones, cash, motorcycles, and other valuables from citizens.

Meanwhile, Model Town police Friday arrested a two-member gang involved in snatching purses and mobile phones from women commuting to offices and workplaces. With the help of modern technology, the police traced and arrested suspects identified as Haroon and Mohsin from B-Block Ground, Model Town. The accused were involved in snatching purses from women. The police recovered two mobile phones, a purse, a stolen motorcycle, and an illegal pistol from their possession.

Fraudster held

Dolphin Squad Friday arrested a fraudster who made a bid to rob a businessman of Rs150,000 in disguise of a beggar. According to a police spokesperson, the accused snatched Rs150,000 from Abdul Rehman of Faisalabad near Muslim Town Road. When the victim contacted police, a patrolling Dolphin Squad team rushed to the scene and arrested one of the culprits, while his accomplices managed to escape.

The amount was recovered from the accused and it was returned to Abdul Rehman. During interrogation, the accused confessed to multiple similar crimes. He was handed over to Muslim Town police.
