BISP chief inspects facilities at Khyber centres
BARA: Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairperson Rubina Khalid on Thursday visited three centres set up in Bara, Jamrud and Landikotal tehsils of the Khyber tribal district and inspected the facilities there.
She was accompanied by Pakistan Peoples Party district president Farhad Shabab, general secretary Dr Sher Shah Afridi, Wilayat Afridi, Javed Afridi,
Shams Afridi and Ikramullah as well as workers of the People’s Students Federation.
During the visit to the BISP Centre in Bara, she reviewed the facilities being provided there. She talked to the women present there and listened to their problems.
The BISP chairperson directed the staff to perform duties properly when some women present there complained to her about some problems.
Interacting with journalists, she said the assistance amount under BISP had been increased from the previous Rs 10,500 to Rs 13,500, adding the educational scholarships had also been increased.
Rubina Khalid described the BISP as a major pro-poor programme, which was benefiting millions of poor and deserving families and women from all over the country.
She added that a mobile survey would soon be launched to take the benefits to the women from remote and backward areas of Khyber district.
The BISP chief said the Benazir Hunarmand Programme was in its final stages, which was meant to improve the lives of women and enable them to play a role in the country’s
economy.Later, she visited Jamrud and Landikotal BISP centres.
