MANSEHRA: Traders in Oghi on Tuesday urged the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) to end prolonged and unscheduled power outages in the city and its suburbs, warning they would take to the streets if the issue persists.

“Pesco suspends electricity supply for the entire day every other day under the pretext of transmission line repairs. If this ongoing issue of prolonged outages is not resolved, we will block the central artery to traffic,” Waqar Ahmad, a traders’ leader, told reporters in Oghi.

Flanked by a group of traders, he stated that local traders had observed a complete shutter-down strike and protested earlier against the power outages, but Pesco has continued the same pattern.

“Pesco suspends electricity almost the entire day under the guise of trimming tree branches along the main arteries in the city and its suburbs. This is unacceptable to us at any cost,” Ahmad said. The traders’ leaders said the power outages severely affected their business activities.
