Artists who showcased Sukkur’s heritage honoured
The Sculpture Art Foundation Pakistan (SAF PAK) distributed cheques and token cash to artists who participated in an exhibition with their paintings and sculptures highlighting historical archaeological sites in Sukkur.
SAF PAK patron-in-chief Muhammad Aslam Sanjrani presented cheques to artists whose works were sold during the exhibition, while token cash was awarded to other participants in recognition of their contributions.
Speaking to The News, SAF PAK Chairman Mansoor Zuberi said: "I was born in Sukkur and have always viewed its heritage from an artistic perspective. That inspired me to arrange this exhibition."
He added that Sukkur Mayor Barrister Arsalan Islam Shaikh facilitated the artists' tour of the city, after which the exhibition was held. "This initiative not only gave artists the opportunity to study Sukkur's rich history but also allowed them to put in effort to create meaningful paintings.”
General Secretary Ghulam Yaseen said cheques were given to four artists whose paintings were purchased by the Sukkur mayor, while a token cash was provided to the rest of the participations for their contribution. The general secretary said the paintings showcased Lansdowne Bridge, Indus Dolphin, Masoom Shah Jo Minaro, and other historical sites of Sukkur.
