Waste collection campaign: LWMC to deploy 10 rickshaws in each UC
LAHORE: LWMC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Babar Sahib Din said that the door-to-door waste collection process was part of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision of Suthra Punjab. He confirmed that 10 rickshaws would be deployed in each Union Council for waste collection.
He said that the waste collection process for every home in the provincial capital is being progressively implemented through the deployment of LWMC's rickshaw squads across all union councils. Babar Sahib Din visited UC 89 to review the ongoing operations and commended the team for their excellent planning and public feedback. During the visit, he praised Town Manager Sumbal Ayaz, Ayesha Nazir, Zonal Officer Haroon, and Supervisor Rizwan for their outstanding work and directed that, they be awarded certificates of appreciation.
Furthermore, the CEO visited Samanabad, Gulshan Ravi, Moon Market, and Sham Nagar Road to inspect the waste collection process. He also reviewed manual sweeping and waste collection activities in areas such as Muslim Road, Al-Mumtaz Road, Rehmat Ali Road, and Bastami Road.
He urged the public to cooperate with LWMC teams and ensure that waste is handed over to the teams collecting from door to door. For any complaints regarding cleanliness, citizens are encouraged to contact the LWMC help line at 1139 or use social media platforms.
Meanwhile, Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafiq Monday visited different areas of Lahore and inspected door-to-door waste collection process under the Suthra Punjab programme of the Punjab Chief Minister.
Special Assistant to the CM for Political Affairs Zeeshan Malik, Secretary Local Government and Community Development Shakeel Ahmed Mian and Chairman Lahore Waste Management Company Malik Bilal Zulfiqar Khokhar were also present on the occasion.
LWMC CEO Babar Sahib Din briefed the minister on the waste collection arrangements. The minister visited Ashiana Housing Road and Yuhanabad areas and interacted with shopkeepers and locals about waste collection.
Zeeshan directed the LWMC staff to work with dedication. The minister also visited the complaint desk in Yuhanabad and directed the LWMC to take immediate action on public complaints adding that the scope of the waste collection will be expanded in a phased manner.
