Cop killed in Lakki encounter
LAKKI MARWAT: A policeman was killed in an encounter with a gang of proclaimed offenders in Abbas Khattak village of Kurram Par area, police sources said on Saturday.
According to the details, a police party of Abbas police post was on a routine patrol in a pickup truck when the gang of wanted criminals ambushed them near Satri Chowk on Friday evening.
Official sources said a police constable identified as Asmatullah sustained bullet injuries after the gang members opened fire on the police patrol party. The wounded cop succumbed to injuries when he was being shifted to the hospital. The attackers were wanted by the police in murder, attempted-murder and terrorism related cases, according to the police.
The funeral prayers for the deceased cop was offered at the police lines at the district headquarters complex Tajazai which was also attended by Regional Police Officer Bannu Muhammad Ali Khan Gandapur and District Police Officer Lakki Marwat Muhammad Hassan Iqbal.
