PPTA KP office-bearers take oath

PESHAWAR: The newly-elected office-bearers of the Pakistan Physical Therapy Association (PPTA), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, took oath of their offices for the 2025-2027 here on Thursday.

Provincial Minister for Communications and Works Sohail Afridi administered oath to the PPTA office-bearers at a ceremony.Speaking on the occasion, Sohail Afridi said the provincial government was committed to resolving the challenges faced by physiotherapists and strengthening the healthcare sector across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The ceremony was attended by prominent physiotherapy professionals, including Dr. Syed Ilyas, CEO of the Paraplegic Centre Peshawar, Dr. Irfanullah, director of the Physiotherapy Department at Khyber Medical University, and federal PPTA office- bearers Dr. Aqib Javid and Dr. Bilal Afridi.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Pirzada Khattak, the newly elected president of PPTA KP, expressed confidence in the regularisation of the services of the contract-based physiotherapists working in District Headquarters Hospitals under a recent resolution passed by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. “Physiotherapists are recognized as independent clinicians worldwide. We are committed to pursuing legal measures to secure our rights and ensure independent practice in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” he said.

The other office-bearers of the association include Dr Ubaidullah, vice-president, Dr Jawad, general secretary, Dr Babar Wardag, information secretary, Dr Jamal, joint secretary, Dr. Nazish Faiz, finance secretary, Dr. Idrees Khan, web secretary, and Dr. Farooq Ahmad, audit secretary.
