PCB names 25 players for Strike Force Camp
LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 25-player roster for its innovative ‘Strike-Force’ camp, which begins this Monday.
The camp will be led by former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq, who brings vast experience and expertise in power-hitting. Under his guidance, the players will undergo intensive training sessions aimed at improving their ability to dominate bowlers in T20 cricket.
These players, along with others, represent the future of Pakistan’s T20 batting lineup. To ensure full participation, the PCB has released the selected players from their respective teams in the ongoing President’s Trophy Grade-I tournament.
The initiative comes in the wake of Pakistan’s inconsistent performances in T20 internationals. The Green Shirts struggled in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, failing to make a significant mark.
Their recent T20 series results include 3-0 whitewash against Australia after a historic ODI series win. A 2-1 win over Zimbabwe but with lapses in consistency, including losing the final match. A series defeat against South Africa, highlighting a lack of power-hitting in critical moments.
With young talents being nurtured and guided under Abdul Razzaq’s mentorship, the camp could prove to be a pivotal step in Pakistan’s resurgence in the shortest format of the game. The following 25 players have been selected for the ‘Strike-Force’ camp:
Abdul Samad, Yasir Khan, Muhammad Akhlaq, Saad Masood, Hassan Nawaz, Muhammad Amir Barki, Afaq Ahmed, Amad Butt, Usman Khan, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Basit Ali, Ali Imran, Nasir Nawaz, Haider Ali, Khushdil Shah, Imran Randhawa, Mubasir Khan, Khawaja Nafay, Mohammad Faizan, Jahandad Khan, Muhammad Irfan Khan, Khayam Khan, Shawaiz Irfan, Mohammad Faiq, Sarwar Afridi
