Remaining 5,000 seats: Religious ministry starts receiving Haj applications today

Spox says applications to be received on first come first serve basis and process would stop when 5000 applications are received

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Religious Affairs has announced to receive applications against 5000 remaining seats under the regular scheme from January 10 (today).

The spokesman of Ministry of Religious Affairs Muhammad Umar Butt on Thursday said that applications would be received on first come first serve basis and the process would stop as soon as 5000 applications are received.

The ministry has asked all the designated banks to receive applications and upload the same on portal on daily basis. The applicants would have to deposit Rs600,000 as first two installments along with the applications.

However, the applicants would pay additional charges for sacrificial animals and separate room.

The spokesman said the ministry received 1000 applications out of 5000 seats in sponsorship head of regular Haj scheme. The remaining 4000 seats have been shifted to the general quota where expenses would be received in rupee.

The designated banks received around 82,000 applications under the regular Haj scheme by the extended deadline of December 10.
