Aamir, Majid elected as POA vice presidents
ISLAMABAD: Mohammad Aamir Jan and Maj (rtd) Majid Waseem (73 votes each) won the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) Vice-President (two seats) election held on Monday.
Col (rtd) Raja Wasim Ahmad who was the third contestant only managed 24 votes. Aisamul Haq (68) and Wajid Ali (67) were elected associate secretaries ahead of Zulfikhar Ali Butt. Hafiz Imran Butt (73), Mohammad Irshad Sattar (81), Sadaf Akram (71) were elected ahead of Murtaza Hussain Bangash on three available seats for representative Olympic sports.
On three ladies' seats for the Executive body, Sumaira Sattar (72), Sana Ali (67), Amna Tanvir (73) were elected ahead of Shamim Akhtar. As reported in Monday's edition all others were elected unopposed including Arif Saeed (President POA) and Mohammad Khalid Mehmood (Secretary General POA). Muhammad Jahangir was also elected unopposed as the Deputy Secretary General with Aamer Malik as treasurer POA.
