Azan, Ashir tons put Sialkot in command
KARACHI: Azan Awais and Ashir Mehmood's centuries helped Sialkot dominate day one of their Quaid-e-Azam Trophy triangular stage match against Lahore Whites at National Bank Stadium on Friday.
Having opted to bat, Sialkot were 336-4 at stumps, built around a 214-run third-wicket partnership between Azan (163 not out) and Ashir (101). Continuing his rich form, left-handed Azan, scored his third first-class century in just seven matches as he struck 18 boundaries in his 289-ball knock. Ashir's aggressive knock came off 152 balls with eight fours and a six before he departed after a 195-minute innings.
Earlier, Sialkot lost their opening batter Mohammad Huraira (16, 15b, 4x4s) with 22 runs on the board. Fahad Jamil, coming to bat at number three, was the next batter to return to the pavilion with 87 runs on the board.
