Farooq Sattar says govt to grant pay raise to PIA employees soon
Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) senior leader Dr Farooq Sattar has assured representatives of concerned labour organisations that the workers of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will soon get a pay raise from the federal government.
Dr Sattar gave this assurance as he met representatives and office-holders of the PIA’s labour union, labour division of the MQM and Air League at the Bahadurabad headquarters of the party on Friday.
Dr Sattar, who is also the chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Privatisation, told the delegation that he had recently met Federal Minister for Privatisation Abdul Aleem Khan and discussed the issue of the pay raise for the PIA employees in the meeting.
The chief executive officer of the PIA and the board of directors of the flag carrier have already approved the proposal for a salary increment.
The MQM-P senior leader said he had asked the privatisation minister to approve the proposal to grant salary increments to the PIA employees. He added that Khan had assured him that he would sign a summary to that effect in a few days. Dr Sattar greeted representatives and leaders of the entities representing the PIA workers on their likely pay increment in the coming days.
