ECP delists hearing of contempt cases against Fawad
Fawad faces three cases of contempt, including two of ECP and one of chief election commissioner
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan Monday delisted the contempt of court cases fixed for hearing on December 10 against former minister Fawad Chaudhry.
“It is circulated for the information of the general public and litigants that the following cases fixed for hearing before the Honourable Election Commission of Pakistan on 10.12.2024 has been delisted and next date of hearing will be announced later,” says the delisting notice. Fawad faces three cases of contempt, including two of the ECP and one of the chief election commissioner.
The ECP had initiated contempt proceedings against the former information minister in August 2022 for allegedly using intemperate language and contemptuous remarks against the commission and its chief during media talks and interviews at different occasions.
Likewise, another case of similar nature was started against Fawad for allegedly committing contempt of the electoral body during his media talk on January 24 last year. On the occasion of previous hearing a few days back, the ex-minister had again tendered an apology to the ECP bench, which had asked him to submit it in writing.
