LAHORE: The server and sender of a mail regarding Pakistan-Zimbabwe cricket received on Tuesday has been traced by the FIA’s Cyber Crimes Wing, it is learnt.
A senior official in Punjab Home Department confided to The News that on Wednesday an investigation team of FIA’s Cyber Crimes Wing, after hectic efforts, succeeded in tracing out the sender and the probable location from where the email was generated and sent. He claimed that the internet server was used from the US; however, the name of the sender could not be disclosed due to sensitivity of the matter.
Praising efforts of the FIA team, the official said the findings had been forwarded to the quarters concerned for necessary action. On the other hand, when approached, the head of PCB’s security, Col (r) Mohammad Azam Khan said he had no knowledge of any development, adding that the top management of the PCB might have any information about the matter.
“Our forces are committed and ready to make this tour a peaceful,” the PCB official added.PCB Chief Operating Officer Subhan Ahmad did not respond to several text messages and calls on Wednesday and Thursday. Efforts were also made to reach Punjab Home Minister Col (r) Shuja Khanzada through text messages and calls for two consecutive days but he too did not respond.
