Maryam for merit in appointments to PERA
Special committee to be constituted to review PERA’s operation in light of decisions taken during meeting
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz chaired the maiden meeting of Punjab Enforcement & Regulatory Authority (PERA) here on Monday and approved establishment of authority’s offices, making appointments, and finalising rules and regulations and other matters.
The CM ordered to ensure transparency and merit for appointment to PERA and ordered for formulating an effective monitoring system in the authority.
The meeting approved establishment of four PERA committees including Administration & Logistics Committee, Finance Committee, Legal Committee and Technical Committee. The CM set a target of making PERA fully functional in three months. The meeting approved number of posts for the headquarters, divisions, districts and tehsils of the authority.
Sub-divisional Enforcement Officer, Investigation Officer, Senior Sergeant and Sergeant would be appointed to every tehsil across Punjab. The meeting also approved PERA staff’s transfer and deputation policy.
The CM also approved appointment of a ‘Hearing Officer’ to look after matters relating to an appeal at the Enforcement Station. The procurement plan and ascertainment of the powers of DG PERA, colour and branding of its vehicles, uniforms, and caps were also approved.
A special committee will be constituted to review PERA’s operation, procedure, and regulation 2024 in the light of decisions taken during the meeting.
Separately, CM Maryam Nawaz felicitated the people of the UAE on their 53rd national day. In her message, she said: “Congratulations to the people of United Arab Emirates on their 53rd National Day.”
She added, “Pakistan’s relations with the United Arab Emirates span over decades. The UAE is an example of innovation and progress worldwide.” The CM said, “Pakistan’s workforce has played a significant role in the development of the United Arab Emirates. We share the joy of our brothers and sisters on their National Day.”
