Action sought against Rescue 1122 officials

BATKHELA: The journalist community on Monday condemned the non-provision of an ambulance for a senior journalist to rush him to a hospital in Swat due to his precarious condition.

An emergency meeting of the Malakand Press Club, Batkhela, held with its president Rab Nawaz Saghir in the chair.Gohar Ali Gohar, Jumma Rahman Afgar, Ehsan Sagar, Rafiullah Pardesi, Haji Gul, Imran Zaryab, Muhammad Rasool Rasa and others attended the meeting.

The participants said that non-availaibilty of ambulance by Rescue1122 for senior journalist Tahir Khan Azikhel was condemnable.“Those rescue personnel responsible for negligence should be immediately terminated,” the meeting demanded.

Earlier, the journalists discussed the statement of Mudasir Tahir, the son of senior journalist Tahir Khan Azikhel, who passed away due to a heart attack the previous day.Mudasir claimed that rescue personnel failed to provide an ambulance for his father, who had been referred to a hospital in Swat from the District Headquarters Hospital.

Meanwhile, the journalists thanked the deputy commissioner of Malakand for taking prompt notice of the incident and ordering an inquiry.They said that complaints about the unavailability of emergency services by rescue personnel had persisted for a long time.
