RAWALPINDI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has broadened the scope of investigation against the fake degree mafia and summoned six administrative officers of the Rawalpindi-Islamabad offices of Axact for investigation, asking them to appear before the inquiry team at 11am on Thursday, an FIA spokesman said.
The FIA team took away 17 more computers with data record of visitors and callers from the offices of Axact during their fresh raid conducted on Wednesday, he said. The forensic examination of the confiscated computers has been started.
The FIA said Col (retd) Jamil Ahmed (Regional Head Administration), Col (retd) Muhammad Younis (Sr Mgr Safety/Security), Abid Khan (Assist Mgr HR), Amjad (Assist Mgr IT), Hasnain-ur-Rehman (Sales Leader-1) and Sajjad Haider (Sales Leader-2) were among those summoned on Wednesday.
The FIA asked all those Pakistanis who have got degrees through Axact to contact the FIA Islamabad or Karachi directors. NNI adds: Reportedly, the hardware and documents seized from the Axact offices are being examined carefully. The sources said the FIA has also recovered certificates impersonating international documents and diplomatic documents of various embassies.
A team of forensic experts is reportedly working to decode 40 computers, which can take three to four days. The sources said that the computer records will point to accomplices and partners involved in this cam.
The FIA has also sought record from the hosting service provider of Axact websites being operated from Pakistan through which the record of buying and selling of online degrees will be obtained.
Reportedly, the FIA had sealed the Rawalpindi office of the company after forged verification letter of the United States secretary of state, forged certificates and seals were recovered.
