Masses demand ruthless accountability, says Siraj
LAHORE
JI ameer Senator Sirajul Haq has said rulers’ attitude on ToRs is not appropriate as they are not ready to constitute an independent and autonomous inquiry commission but these tactics would not save them.
He was talking to the media after distributing special Ramazan package to the needy on Sunday. Sirajul Haq said the masses were demanding a ruthless and indiscriminate accountability and if the rulers continued their delaying tactics, the masses would lose patience and stage a march towards Islamabad. Hafiz Salman Butt and JI Lahore chief Zikrullah Mujahid were present. He said it was the responsibility of the state to look after the widows, orphans and destitute, but the government instead was diverting all its resources towards the elite.
The JI chief said in the western countries the prices of all items were reduced by fifty per cent on the approach of Christmas. On the other hand, in our society the prices of the basic necessities of life were doubled on the approach of Ramazan and there was no authority to check this unjustified raise, he said. Muslim rulers were expected to be servants of the masses and an Islamic state was duty bound to provide the necessities of life to the needy at their doorstep, but the rulers in this country were treating the masses as slaves.
Sirajul Haq said the finance minister in his budget speech had not uttered a word on corruption which was the biggest issue at the moment. He said Panama Leaks had exposed the plunderers, but the corrupt elite wanted to bury the issue under the carpet which was not possible. Speaking on the occasion, JI, Lahore chief, Zikrullah Mujahid said the JI and the Al-Khidmat Foundation were trying to provide maximum relief to the needy within their limited resources during Ramazan and for Eid.
